Eight globes at eight different heights
KARO VIII is a pendant with a single black ceiling canopy 35 cm across, from which eight cords descend, each ending in a satin-gold stem and a white opal glass globe. The globes are not all the same: four are 12 cm across, four are 15 cm, and every cord hangs at a different length. Hence the sense of movement β the arrangement does not settle into a regular pattern but into a scattered, three-dimensional cluster reaching up to 125 cm below the ceiling.
Two lighting sections, so two levels of brightness
The manufacturer splits the eight points into two independent groups of four. Wired to a two-gang switch they give two scenes: four globes lit is intimate light for dinner, all eight is full brightness over a table. The split is worth planning before installation, because it needs a supply with two separate live conductors run to the canopy.
Height: 125 cm, and it can be shortened
As supplied the fitting reaches a maximum of 125 cm below the ceiling. The manufacturer permits the height to be modified, but states it should be done by a qualified electrician β this is not a matter of clamping a cable shorter but of working on the supply to each globe individually. Under a 250 cm ceiling at full length the lowest globe sits about 125 cm above the floor, roughly 50 cm above a tabletop β right over a dining table, too low in a walkway.
Eight G9 sockets β and an important diameter limit
Each globe takes a replaceable G9 lamp of up to 12 W, LED only. The manufacturer adds a condition that is easy to overlook: the lamp must be no more than 19.5 mm in diameter, or it will not pass through the narrow neck of the shade. Lamps giving diffuse light are also recommended β inside an opal globe a point-source LED would draw a bright spot rather than an even glow. Nowodvorski names its own G9 lamps: 7503 at a warm 3000 K and 7504 at a cooler 4000 K. Bulbs are not included β eight points need eight of them.
Materials and finish
The structure is painted steel: canopy in black P013 RAL 9005, stems in satin gold P023, shades in white glass. That combination β black, gold, opal glass β runs through the whole KARO family, so the fitting can be combined with other pieces from the series into a coherent scheme. It is made in Poland, weighs 3.8 kg net, and arrives in a 38.5 Γ 38.5 Γ 35.5 cm carton weighing 5.125 kg.
Installation and conditions of use
Mounting is direct to the ceiling, in protection class I β the earth conductor must be connected. No mounting kit is supplied: screws and plugs are matched to the ceiling construction, bearing in mind a far-from-trivial 3.8 kg. IP20 means dry rooms only.
