Mera Black is a wall light on an unusual scale for its category: 67 cm tall and 42 cm wide, with two shades spread across a black metal frame. This is not a small bedside fitting but an object that claims a piece of wall and forms a composition on its own.
Smoked glass
The shades are smoked glass set in black metal rings. Tinted glass does two things at once: switched off it reads as a dark, mirror-like volume — a decorative object; switched on it passes a subdued light, distinctly warmer in character than clear glass, and takes the hard glare off the filament. The effect therefore depends strongly on the lamp you choose: a filament bulb glows softly through the smoke, an opal globe gives even light.
Two E27 light points
The fitting takes two E27 lamps of up to 60 W each. Lamps are not included, which with a smoked shade is rather an advantage — the bulb decides the character of the light. For a living room warm 2700 K is the natural choice; if the fitting is to serve for reading, pick a higher-output source, because smoked glass absorbs part of the light.

Where to hang it
At 42 cm wide and 23 cm deep, Mera needs free wall — it will not fit between a cabinet and a corner. It works above a sofa, on a stairwell wall, in a hallway with room enough to step back. Two points spread over 42 cm light a wider stretch of wall than a single sconce, so the fitting also serves as fill light rather than pure accent. IP20 restricts it to dry interiors.
The Mera family
Mera is not a single lamp but a whole family: alongside one- and two-light wall fittings the manufacturer offers ceiling and pendant versions from one to three lights, in black and in black-and-gold. That makes it possible to pair the wall light with a pendant over the table without hunting for an equivalent from another maker.
