LAGUNA CREAM IX is a ceiling lamp shaped as a shallow cylinder 100 cm across and 16 cm high. Cream velvet covers the side, a white diffuser closes the underside, and all of the light leaves through it. The structure is lacquered steel, and the fitting mounts directly to the ceiling with no drop.
How big it is and what the ceiling has to carry
A metre across is a figure to weigh against the floor area of the room: a circle that size takes up a visible part of the ceiling and works as the main light of a large interior rather than as an addition. The 16 cm height, on the other hand, means the fitting barely comes down at all β it fits where a pendant would hang too low.
The lamp weighs 7.41 kg net, and 11.27 kg in its 102 Γ 101 Γ 18.5 cm carton. At that weight the fixing has to reach the structural ceiling rather than only the plasterboard.
How many bulbs you have to buy
Nine E27 lampholders sit inside the fitting and no bulb is supplied β that is nine of them to count alongside the lamp itself. You choose the colour and the brightness, and nine sources spread under a single diffuser give an even light with no visible bright spots.
The manufacturer gives a maximum of 15 W per lampholder and permits LED sources only. A closed body with a velvet side does not shed heat the way an open shade does, so halogen and incandescent lamps are ruled out by the manufacturer rather than by convenience.
Build and connection
The fitting is protection class I, so it needs a protective conductor at the ceiling outlet β a two-core connection is not enough. It runs on 220β230 V at 50/60 Hz.
The ingress rating is IP20 and the datasheet gives the intended use as indoor: the velvet shade is meant for neither a bathroom nor an outdoor canopy. The lamp is made in Poland, in Siemianowice, and the carton holds the fitting itself with a user manual and a mounting instruction.
