NORLYS Alta 5021BL Black LED Bollard Light, 8.5 W 4000 K, 85 cm, Dimmable

The Norlys Alta 5021BL is an 85 cm bollard light, 15 cm in diameter, with a body of hot-dip galvanised steel powder-coated black (RAL 9005). The head is made of five horizontal louvre rings above an opal PMMA diffuser, and an integrated Philips Fortimo LED module works inside.

How much light, and what kind

The luminaire draws 8.5 W and delivers 151 lm. The louvres shade the source from above, so the light spreads evenly all round the bollard and only 10% of the flux goes upwards. This is wayfinding light: it marks the edge of a path, steps or an entrance rather than lighting a whole driveway.

A colour temperature of 4000 K is neutral white, cooler than a household bulb, and CRI 80 keeps colours along the path looking natural. The bollard can be dimmed with a phase-cut (TRIAC) dimmer, trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE), so it works with both dimmer types.

Installation and connection

The bollard bolts down through three ø9 mm holes set 120° apart on a 65 mm circle. Nothing for fixing it into the ground is included: Norlys sells a concrete-in anchor (205), a ground anchor (206), a concrete-foundation adapter (206S) and the mounting adapters 3080GA and 3086GA separately, to be chosen according to the ground.

The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 4 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on to the next bollard with conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm²; the gland takes a round cable up to 12.5 mm in diameter. Protection class II means double insulation with no protective earth conductor. The bollard weighs 9.3 kg.

Durability and servicing

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, so the bollard stands in the rain without any cover. IK08 is resistance to a 5 J impact, which matters for a bollard placed right next to a path, where it is easy to knock.

The LED module and driver are not user-replaceable; a professional service replaces them, using Norlys service kit ZS5021zx0013. The manufacturer rates the module for more than 50,000 hours (L70) and the driver for 50,000 hours; at 3 hours a day that is more than 45 years.

The plain cylindrical form with its louvres suits Scandinavian-style architecture, gardens and terraces, as well as driveways, streets and the grounds of hotels and restaurants.
