NORLYS Bologna 3025BL Black Pole-Mounted Light, Clear Globe on Arm, E27

The Norlys Bologna 3025BL is a pole-mounted light with a clear globe set on a curved arm. The body and arm are cast aluminium, powder-coated black (RAL 9005), and the globe is clear PMMA. You are buying the luminaire on its own – the pole and the terminal it fixes to are separate articles.

What it mounts on

The arm bolts to the Bologna 3040 terminal, which sits on the Norlys 3010 lighting pole, designed for luminaires with a 50 mm fixing diameter. Norlys builds its ready-made sets from the same parts: two 3025 heads on one pole make the Bologna 362, three make the Bologna 364. If you prefer an opal globe to a clear one, the same shape is index 3026.

The terminals take conductors up to 4 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on to the next luminaire on the same pole. The cable gland accepts a round cable of 7–12.5 mm diameter – a figure to check against the cable already brought to the pole.

What light it gives

The luminaire has an E27 socket and takes an A55–A60 shaped bulb, LED up to 9 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the brightness and colour of the light yourself. Norlys suggests the Philips Master LEDbulb 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K: warm, slightly yellow light as bright as an old 60 W bulb, in a dimmable version. The manufacturer describes the distribution as diffuse, and the bulb is visible through the clear globe, so its shape and colour become part of how the lantern looks.

Build and servicing

IP54 means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction, so the luminaire can work outdoors without a canopy. Protection class II is double insulation, so no protective earth conductor is connected. A silicone gasket seals the globe, and a globe service kit (06360008) is available, so a cracked globe is replaced without replacing the whole luminaire.

A globe held in an openwork collar on a curved arm is the classic shape of a park lantern. It suits a garden as well as the surroundings of a hotel or restaurant.
