Norlys Moss DC6805BL Garden Spike Spotlight, Black RAL 9005, LED 6.8 W 24 V DC, 3000 K

Moss DC6805BL is a small spike-mounted garden spotlight: a cylindrical head 8.5 cm across sits on a curved arm, and the whole fitting is pushed into the ground on a steel spike. The body is cast aluminium powder-coated black (RAL 9005), and the front is closed by clear safety glass. The beam direction can be adjusted, including vertically.

24 V supply – what to buy separately

The spotlight runs on 24 V DC and is not connected directly to the 230 V mains. It needs an external constant-voltage driver, which is not included; the manufacturer reserves choosing the driver and installing it for a suitably qualified person. Protection class III means it runs on safety extra-low voltage.

The fitting comes with 3 m of H05RN-F 2 × 1 mm² cable, to be joined in a suitable junction box – Norlys offers junction box 145ZX0009 separately for this. The LED module is suitable for dimming, and brightness is controlled on the supply side, as the installation design specifies.

What light it gives

The built-in LED module draws 6.8 W and gives 768 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. The beam is symmetrical and very narrow at 15°, with a peak intensity of 6114 cd – the spotlight does not light its surroundings, it picks out one chosen point.

According to the manufacturer's photometric data, the pool of light is about 0.24 m across at 1 m, about 0.5 m at 2 m and about 0.7 m at 3 m. Compare that with the tree trunk, column or sculpture you want to light. The LEDs are not user-replaceable – the module is replaced by the manufacturer's service.

Where and how to place it

IP65 means a dust-tight housing resistant to water jets, so the spotlight can stand in the garden without shelter; impact resistance is IK06. The manufacturer intends it for lighting gardens, private grounds and architectural features.

With the spike the fitting is 27 cm tall, and the head with its arm about 11 cm. It weighs 0.56 kg and is pushed into a lawn or flower bed on its spike without a foundation, while the 3 m cable lets you keep the junction box away from where it stands.
