Stockholm 284BD is a low Norlys portal-type bollard light, 34.5 cm tall. The powder-coated steel body has a black finish with a gold patina, and the clear PMMA diffuser is wrapped in horizontal steel rings beneath a flat, round roof 27 cm in diameter. Norlys describes the design of the series as Scandinavian.
Where it goes and how it is mounted
The bollard is fixed with the mounting anchor supplied in the box: the base has two ø7 mm holes 90 mm apart, and Norlys provides for mounting on the ground, a low wall, a platform or another fixed structure. At 34.5 cm high it lights the edge of a terrace, steps or a flower bed right beside it rather than a long path from above. It weighs 2.5 kg.
The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the cable gland a round-sheathed cable up to 12 mm in diameter, which is the figure to compare with the cable already run to the mounting point. IP54 means the fitting can stay outdoors without a roof over it, and protection class II means it needs no earth conductor.
What light it gives
The fitting has an E27 socket and takes an A55–A60 LED lamp of up to 9 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour temperature and brightness yourself, and the maker designed the lamp to be replaced by the user. A wider decorative bulb will not fit inside.
The light is uncovered: it shines out sideways through the diffuser, and according to the maker about 42% of the output goes above the level of the fitting. It therefore also lights nearby plants and the wall, not only the ground, which matters if the bollard stands right below a window. The diffuser and the gasket are available as spare parts.
