The Arendal Mini 1250GR is a box-shaped outdoor wall light: the lower part is a housing of powder-coated cast aluminium in graphite (RAL 7016), the upper part a shade of thick crystal glass, satin-finished on the inside. It takes one E14 lamp and is mounted on a wall.
Dimensions and wall mounting
The light is 22 cm high and 9 cm wide and projects 14.5 cm from the wall. Compare these figures with the space beside your front door; the fitting weighs 2.3 kg net.
It fixes to the wall through two ø5 mm holes spaced 34 × 54 mm apart. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the fitting can be looped through with conductors up to 2 × 1.5 mm², so several lights on one wall can run from one circuit, fitting to fitting. The cable gland accepts a round-sheathed cable up to 12.5 mm in diameter. Protection class II (double insulation) means no protective earth is needed, hence the two-pole terminals.
Lamp and light character
No lamp is included. The manufacturer specifies an E14 round lamp: a QB35 halogen up to 46 W or an LED B35 up to 6 W. The lamp is user-replaceable, and the colour and brightness of the light depend on the lamp you choose – at an entrance or on a terrace, 2700–3000 K, a warm, slightly yellowish light, is the usual pick.
The satin inner layer diffuses the light and hides the lamp, while the glass lets light out sideways and upwards. The data sheet gives a ULOR of 75 %: three quarters of the luminaire's output leaves above the horizontal, so the light brightens the wall and its immediate surroundings rather than directing light down onto a path.
Outdoor use
IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, so it can hang on an unsheltered wall. Impact resistance is IK06 and the operating temperature range is −20…+45 °C. The manufacturer notes that the crystal glass shade may take on an amber tint over time.
The plain, geometric body without ornament suits a modern, modernist or Scandinavian setting. The light is meant for façades, balconies and gardens, and for entrances to hotels and restaurants. The Arendal Mini series also includes a black version (1250BL) and the 1251 and 1252 wall lights with a built-in LED module.
