Serca is a large flush ceiling light from Kichler, distributed by Elstead Lighting, shaped as a shallow drum. The steel body is finished in brushed natural brass and closed at the bottom by a frosted etched-glass diffuser. Small knobs around the lower edge of the frame release the glass for cleaning and bulb changes.
Dimensions and where to fit it
The light is 45.7 cm in diameter and 14.6 cm high. It sits tight to the ceiling, so it takes no headroom and works where a pendant would hang too low, such as a hallway. Compare the diameter with the width of the room: in a narrow corridor 45.7 cm covers a good part of the ceiling, while in a kitchen or bedroom it is in proportion to the larger area.
The fitting weighs 3.9 kg. It is Class I, which means it must be connected to an earth conductor. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use.
Bulbs and light
There are three E27 sockets, each for a bulb of up to 40 W — up to 120 W in total. The bulbs are not included, so you choose their colour temperature and brightness yourself. The etched glass diffuses the light, so the individual bulbs are not visible and the fitting glows as an even disc. It is compatible with dimmable bulbs — dimming needs such bulbs and a dimmer in the circuit.
Style and use
Serca is a classic drum in a modern, pared-back form: a smooth band without ornament, a narrow step at the bottom of the frame and the warm tone of brushed brass. The manufacturer suggests it for kitchens, corridors and walk-in wardrobes; it also suits hallways, bedrooms and dining rooms.
