The medium Serca flush light by Kichler is a low, round metal drum in Brushed Natural Brass, with a white diffuser of frosted, etched glass underneath. Small knobs set into the frame let the glass come off easily, the manufacturer says, for cleaning and bulb changes. It is distributed by Elstead Lighting.
Size
At 36.2 cm across and 14.6 cm high, it is the smaller version of the large Serca (45.7 cm). The smaller diameter works better in a narrow corridor, a walk-in wardrobe or a small kitchen, where a bigger drum would dominate the ceiling. It weighs 2.6 kg.
It is Class I, so it needs an earth conductor. It is for indoor use.
Lampholders and light
Inside are two E27 lampholders for bulbs of up to 40 W each; the bulbs are bought separately. Your choice of bulb sets the light colour — a more neutral white suits kitchens and wardrobes where colours need to be told apart, a warm white suits a hallway. The frosted glass hides the bulbs and spreads light across the whole disc. The fitting works with dimmable bulbs: adjusting brightness needs such bulbs and a dimmer.
Finish and style
Brushed brass has a warm, matt sheen, and the slim metal frame and visible knobs add detail. The manufacturer presents Serca as an updated take on the classic drum. As ceiling lighting it suits an entrance hall, corridor, walk-in wardrobe, kitchen, bedroom or dining room.
