The white Steinel IS 360-1 DE is an infrared motion sensor designed for recessed ceiling installation. Its round UV-resistant plastic housing measures 78 mm in diameter and 89 mm high, so those dimensions should be compared with the available ceiling space before installation. The model is intended for ceiling mounting both indoors and outdoors.
Detection area and adjustment
The sensor provides 360° coverage. Its radial reach is up to 4 m and its tangential reach is up to 8 m in diameter; Steinel states a detection area of up to 50 m². Supplied shrouds allow the detection area to be masked by segment. Rotary controls set the switch-on time from 8 seconds to 35 minutes and the twilight threshold from 2 to 2000 lx.
Installation and switched load
IS 360-1 DE is fitted flush into a ceiling, for example in a suspended ceiling or beneath a canopy. The manufacturer specifies a mounting height of 2.5 to 4 m, with 2.5 m as the optimum. IP54 protection and an operating range from -20 to 40°C support use at an entrance, below an overhang or on a terrace, provided the actual installation conditions are suitable.
The unit operates on 230–240 V, 50/60 Hz and has protection class II. It can switch resistive loads up to 1000 W; for LED lamps above 8 W, the stated maximum is 350 W. One sensor and installation accessories are supplied. Mains connection and installation should be carried out in accordance with local electrical regulations.
