Wall Light ABRUZZO 8035 Argon Black Velvet / Brushed Brass E14 max 7W 34 cm

ABRUZZO 8035 is a 34 cm wall light built from a rectangular wall plate and a horizontal arm in brushed brass, turning into a vertical stem. On it sits a black cylindrical velvet shade, and the stem continues below the shade to finish in a small finial.

Velvet, not ordinary fabric

The shade material matters visually here. Velvet absorbs light rather than reflecting it, so the black stays deep and matt even with the lamp on — unlike ordinary cotton, which goes grey and translucent once the source is lit. The result is a crisp black cylinder against warm brass by day, and a shade that stays dark in the evening.

The light goes up and down

The cylinder is open at the top and the bottom and its wall is opaque. The whole output therefore leaves in two cones — one up the wall, one down. This is a fitting for drawing with light on a wall: beside a bed, beside an armchair, in a corridor, flanking a mirror. It will not light a room and is not meant to.

Note: 7 W maximum

This is the single most important thing to know before buying a bulb. The socket is E14, but the manufacturer states a maximum lamp power of 7 W — five times less than the typical 40 W most fittings with this socket allow. A classic 40 W candle bulb must not go in here, nor a more powerful LED; the limit follows from the tight space under the velvet shade. In practice that means an E14 LED of up to 7 W, roughly 600–800 lumens, which is plenty for an accent wall light. No bulb is included, which is why the manufacturer records the energy class as "not applicable".

A switch on the fitting — an option worth noting

Argon states that on this model a switch can be fitted on the wall plate. Over a bed that changes how the light is used: you switch it by hand from where you are lying, without running a separate circuit to a wall switch. Worth asking about when ordering, because it is not standard on every unit.

Installation and the ABRUZZO family

The fitting weighs 0.5 kg and projects 17.5 cm from the wall; IP20 confines it to dry interiors.
