Amelia is a flush ceiling light by Hinkley, distributed by Elstead Lighting, in the two-tone Buckeye Bronze/Restoration Bronze finish. The steel dome is dark brown, while the canopy with its ring of cut-out windows, the trim ring and two round clasps carry a lighter, brass-like tone. A cast glass diffuser with a concentric prismatic pattern closes the fitting underneath.
Size and where it fits
The light measures 32.4 cm across and only 17 cm high, so it sits tight to the ceiling and takes no headroom. That is the figure to compare with your room height wherever a pendant would be in the way — a hallway, a corridor or a bedroom with a low ceiling.
It weighs 3.45 kg and is Class I, which means it must be connected to the protective earth. The manufacturer specifies it for indoor use only.
Light sources
Inside are two E27 lampholders, each for a bulb of up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself — for bedrooms and hallways 2700–3000 K, a warm light, is the usual pick. The prismatic glass spreads the light, so the bulbs do not shine straight into your eyes.
The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs: dimming needs a dimmer and bulbs marked as dimmable. The manufacturer lists the diffuser glass as spare part GS757.
Style and series
The manufacturer describes Amelia as a reworking of vintage details: the cast metal trim ring, ornamental clasps and ribbed glass give it a retro character. It suits a bedroom, dining room, hallway, corridor or kitchen. The Amelia series also includes flush lights in chrome and Heritage Brass, and pendants in several sizes.
