NORLYS Nordland 5253AL outdoor wall / ceiling light, light grey RAL 9006, LED 28.9 W 3000 K, DALI2, IP65

The Nordland 5253AL is a NORLYS outdoor luminaire for wall or ceiling mounting: a square 28 × 28 cm body of powder-coated cast aluminium in light grey RAL 9006, closed by an opal, UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser. It is 9.5 cm deep, so it stands only a little proud of the wall or ceiling.

Mounting and connection

The body is fixed through two ø5 mm holes spaced 150 × 170 mm, on a wall or on the ceiling of a canopy. It is a protection class I luminaire, so the earth conductor must be connected. The terminals take conductors up to 5 × 1.5 mm², and luminaires can be looped through with up to 5 × 1.5 mm² – several units on one facade then run from a single cable. The EPDM gland takes a round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The luminaire weighs 2.21 kg.

How much light, and what kind

The LED module produces 3796 lm, and 2183 lm leaves the luminaire at 28.9 W, or 75.5 lm/W. That is enough for one luminaire to light a terrace, an entrance or a stretch of covered walkway rather than just mark it on the facade. 3000 K is a warm white, and CRI 80 renders colours correctly. The opal diffuser spreads the light, so instead of a distinct beam you see an evenly bright surface; ULOR 9.7% means a small share of the flux goes upwards. Flicker values of Pst LM ≤1 and SVM ≤0.4 mean the light neither flickers nor causes a stroboscopic effect.

Control and servicing

The driver works in a DALI2/TD system, so the luminaire is dimmed and programmed through DALI control – an ordinary phase dimmer will not operate it. The inrush current is 5 A for 50 µs, which matters when choosing the circuit breaker for a longer run. IP65 allows outdoor mounting without shelter, and IK10 makes it suitable where it may be knocked. The LED module and the driver are replaced by a professional service, Norlys offers a service kit for this luminaire, and the manufacturer rates the module at L80B20 above 80,000 h.

The plain, undecorated square form fits a modern style. The luminaire is intended for facades, terraces, balconies and garden pavilions, as well as the grounds of hotels and restaurants.
