ECHO 8372 is a recessed downlight in black painted aluminium for one GU10 lamp. Its round 12.5 cm flange has a perforated surface, and the lampholder sits deep inside it, so the light source does not protrude below the ceiling.

Ceiling installation

The fitting needs a round cut-out 8 cm in diameter and is held in it by two spring clips. From the flange to the end of the lampholder with its lead it measures 11.5 cm – that much free space is needed above the ceiling board, which is worth checking on a suspended ceiling with a shallow void. The mains wiring is connected to a separate terminal box on a short lead.

The fitting is protection class I, so it needs a protective earth conductor. The box contains the fitting and its instructions, and the net weight is 0.235 kg.

Lamp and sealing

The lamp is not included. It takes a GU10 lamp – the manufacturer specifies R50 format, i.e. a 50 mm reflector – of up to 15 W and LED only, because the closed fitting cannot shed the heat of a halogen. Colour temperature and beam angle are therefore chosen with the lamp.

The ingress rating is dual: IP54 on the room side and IP20 above the ceiling. The front is protected against dust and splashing water, so the downlight also suits a bathroom or kitchen, but the manufacturer intends it for indoor use only.

Where it works

Nowodvorski describes ECHO as a modern fitting; the black, finely perforated flange stands out clearly against a light ceiling. It is used in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms and hallways, as well as in offices, studies, hotels and restaurants. The fitting is made in China for the Polish manufacturer.
