PIK III is a ceiling light 59 cm wide: a black rod, bent at an angle, fixed to the ceiling by a square rose at its centre, carrying three white opal glass globes 12 cm across set alternately above and below the line of the rod. The whole thing stands only 13 cm deep.
Two lighting sections — 2 + 1
This is the most interesting thing about the fitting and it does not show in a photograph. The manufacturer states that it has two lighting sections split 2/1: two globes are switched together, the third independently.
Wired to a two-gang switch it therefore gives three states instead of one: one globe (low, evening light), two globes, or all three (full output). That is unusual in a fitting of this size and price — normally a dimmer has to be added to get a comparable effect.
The condition is that two live conductors reach the fitting. If the ceiling has only one, the lamp will work normally but all three globes will come on together — worth checking before installation, because adding a second live afterwards means chasing the ceiling.
Three G9 sources — and two specific requirements
The fitting takes 3 × G9 at a maximum of 12 W each. The manufacturer writes it as "12W only LED", so G9 halogens are excluded despite the matching cap. No bulbs are included.
Nowodvorski also states two conditions you will not find in the parameter table, and they decide whether the lamp performs well:
-
The bulb diameter must not exceed 19.5 mm. G9 sources from any manufacturer may be used, but they have to pass through the neck of the globe — and many of the more powerful G9 LEDs have a thicker body.
-
G9 sources emitting diffuse light are recommended. The globes are opal glass, so a bulb with a narrow beam, or with the diodes visible on one side, will give a patchy globe instead of an even glow.
In practice a 3–4 W G9 LED (350–450 lm) suits a 12 cm globe. Three of them give around 1200 lm — enough to light a hallway or a smaller bedroom, on under 12 W in total.
Form and dimensions
The rod is not straight: it bends at an angle, and the globes sit alternately on either side of it. As a result the arrangement reads differently from each side of the room, and the flat profile (13 cm) does not visually lower the ceiling.
59 cm wide is a size for a hallway, an entrance, a smaller bedroom or a narrow worktop. In a large living room it will be too little on its own.
Build and installation
The structure is lacquered aluminium in black — the manufacturer names the exact shade, RAL 9005 — with glass shades in white. The rose is square and sits at the centre of the rod.
It mounts by the bridge method (a bar fixed to the ceiling onto which the fitting is placed). No mounting kit is included — plugs and screws have to be chosen for the ceiling construction yourself.
Protection class I means the installation requires an earth conductor. Supply ~220–230 V, 50 Hz, protection IP20 — dry interiors only.
