NORLYS Astrid 2220CS bollard light, corten steel colour, LED 14.6 W 4000 K, 55 cm

The NORLYS Astrid 2220CS is a 55 cm bollard light made from a fluted aluminium profile with a rounded-square cross-section. The profile is powder-coated in a corten-steel colour (close to RAL 8011, a dark brown), and an opal PMMA diffuser shows between the vertical ribs at the top.

Size and where it goes

At 55 cm tall on a 14 x 14 cm footprint, the bollard marks the edge of a path, steps or a driveway without hiding the planting behind it. IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK10, the top impact rating on that scale, matters for a bollard standing right beside a walkway, a driveway or on a mown lawn. The "corten steel" finish is paint on aluminium, not bare steel, so it does not rust.

What light it gives

The light comes from a built-in Osram LED module supplied with the fitting, at 4000 K, a neutral white, with CRI 80 colour rendering. The opal diffuser spreads the light sideways, so the bollard gives a soft glow rather than a hard spot: from a 2279 lm module, 287 lm leaves the fitting at 14.6 W. That is orientation light that shows where a path runs, not lighting for a whole yard.

The bollard can be phase-dimmed with a TRIAC dimmer, both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE), so it also works with older dimmers.

Installation and wiring

The base bolts down through three ø9 mm holes set at 120° on a ø65 mm circle. Ground fixings are not included: Norlys sells separately the 205 concreting anchor, the 206 ground anchor, the 206S concrete-foundation adapter and the 3080GA mounting adapter. It is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor. The terminals take conductors up to 3 x 2.5 mm² and allow looping on to the next bollard; the gland takes round cable up to ø12.5 mm. The maker also states how many fittings one circuit breaker can carry: 60 on B10A, 96 on B16A, 37 on C10A and 96 on C16A, figures for planning the circuit for a longer row. The maker rates the driver at 100,000 h.
