Quintiesse Axel semi-flush ceiling light, 7 × E27, Heritage Brass

Axel in Heritage Brass is a seven-light semi-flush ceiling fitting designed by Hinkley and offered through Quintiesse. Crossed steel arms spread beneath the ceiling, with clear cylindrical glass shades that leave the bulbs visible. This QN-AXEL7-HB version has an all-over brass-coloured finish rather than black arms.

A broad footprint without a long pendant drop

The fitting is 318 mm high, with a maximum width of 1440 mm and a depth of 808 mm. Its proportions matter in two directions: it occupies a substantial area across the ceiling but does not need space for a long chain or suspension cable. Compare the measurements with the room height, tall furniture and any nearby ceiling features before choosing its position.

Articulating arms allow different configurations, and the fitting attaches to the ceiling at three mounting points. Account for that mounting layout when planning installation. Repositioning the arms is not the same as changing the drop: the manufacturer specifies that the height is not adjustable. The shallow profile can also be considered for a spacious hallway or circulation area, provided the actual head clearance is suitable.

Choose all seven bulbs separately

Each E27 socket takes a bulb rated up to 60 W or a suitable LED equivalent. Bulbs are not included. Their selection determines brightness and colour temperature; Axel has no integrated LED module or fixed light colour. Dimming requires suitable dimmable bulbs and compatible control equipment rather than being an automatic feature of every bulb you can install.

Clear glass makes the appearance of the light sources part of the design. The manufacturer recommends decorative Edison-style bulbs, while the photographs illustrate a possible choice rather than the contents of the package. Consider the bulb shape as well as its lighting specifications when assembling the seven-light arrangement.

Brass-toned geometry for a larger interior

The open framework combines modern geometry with retro and industrial detailing. Its wide layout can serve as general lighting in a larger living room, dining room or bedroom, or sit above a table when the spread of shades suits the furniture below. Axel is intended for interior use. Heritage Brass describes the finish on its steel construction, not a claim that the whole fitting is made from solid brass.
