Trilogy is a flush ceiling light with a clear glass shade with rounded, barrel-like sides, held in a steel frame finished in polished chrome. Two lampholders and their bulbs sit in full view behind the glass, so the light source itself becomes part of the look. The design is by Quoizel, and Elstead Lighting distributes the fitting in Europe.
Size and installation
The fitting measures 30.5 cm across and only 15 cm high, so it sits tight to the ceiling and takes up little of the room's height – useful in a low hallway, an attic room or a bathroom where a pendant would get in the way of an opening door. It weighs 1.91 kg. As a Class I luminaire it needs an earth connection.
Bathroom and other rooms
The manufacturer specifies Trilogy for interiors including bathrooms: its IP44 rating protects it against splashing water from any direction. It suits bathrooms, bedrooms and dining rooms – anywhere general light from the ceiling is wanted without a drop.
Choosing the bulbs
The fitting has two E27 lampholders, each for a bulb of up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included. The manufacturer shows it with decorative Edison-style LED filament lamps – their filaments are visible through the clear glass, so the bulb you choose affects the appearance as much as the amount of light. The fitting works with dimmable lamps, so with a dimmer simply use bulbs marked as dimmable.
The Trilogy range
Chrome and clear glass with exposed bulbs pair a nostalgic motif with a plain, modern shape. The Trilogy range also includes single-light semi-flush fittings, among them Brushed Nickel and Old Bronze versions.
