Sopel takes the form of a narrow metal tube attached to a circular wall plate. The shade, short connector and base are made from black painted steel, giving the fitting one coherent technical finish. Its cylindrical head is only 2.5 cm in diameter and 15 cm long. The light source sits recessed inside, with illumination leaving through the small round aperture at the end.

A wide range of aiming positions

Movement is the defining practical feature. The tube can tilt through 90° vertically and rotate through 350°. This enables the beam to address a picture, shelf, selected wall section, bedside surface or navigation point. Before tightening the final position, it is sensible to check the head from normal seating and walking sightlines, since a lens aimed directly towards the eyes may be uncomfortable.

A replaceable G9 capsule

The holder accepts one G9 LED lamp rated at no more than 4 W. The manufacturer refers to a lamp size of 21 × 52.5 mm, so the physical capsule dimensions should be checked as well as the cap designation. No light source is included. Output and colour temperature can be chosen for the intended accent, while the narrow opening should not be expected to provide the broad diffusion of a large shade.
